The route “Over the Slopes of Macelj Mountain”

The route “Over the Slopes of Macelj Mountain” is named after the forested massif that shapes the landscape and gives the ride its distinctive character. The circular trail passes through forested areas, mountain viewpoints and slopes that open up stunning vistas, and in part, it also extends into Varaždin County. During the ride, gentle climbs and descents alternate with stretches through dense forests and open views of the rolling hills of Zagorje. Along the way, Trakošćan Castle with its lake stands out, situated in a harmonious blend of nature and cultural heritage. Part of the route follows paths that once served as hunting grounds for the Krapina Neanderthal, so cycling here literally means tracing their footsteps. Along the route, there is a cycling rest stop, and the trail unites history, landscape and the power of nature into a unique experience.
